100 Meter Dash
Capital's Malcolm Fletcher took the lead early and held his composure under pressure from the Hedgesville duo of Kyrae Ramos and Sam Irwin as the top 3 were separated by just 0.03 with Fletcher getting an 11.13, Ramos an 11.15, and Irwin an 11.16. Morgantown's Alajuan Robinson was 4th in 11.27. Capital's Breece Hoff was 5th in 11.31. Spring Mills' Elian Lamar was 6th in 11.39.
RunWV's Current Score: 5 of 6.

200 Meter Dash
The Hedgesville duo of Kyrae Ramos and Sam Irwin powered away in the 2nd half with Ramos taking the win in 22.18 and Irwin 2nd in 22.22. Capital's Malcolm Fletcher was close through the turn and finished 3rd in 22.59. Spring Mills' Elian Lamar was 4th in 22.87. Spring Valley's Owen Chafin was 5th in 22.89, and Morgantown's Benjamin Waibogha took the final spot in 22.93. One of my predicted placers didn't run the final after qualifying 4th in the trials.
RunWV's Current Score: 10 of 12.

400 Meter Dash
Buckhannon-Upshur's Andrew Nesselroade led it coming out of the turn and powered away to win by over a second in 49.11. Musselman's Jordan Delinski snagged 2nd from the 1st heat in 50.31. Hedgesville's Seth Cain pulled out 3rd in 50.61. Jefferson's Nicholas Mazaleski was 4th in 50.75. Greenbrier East's Scott Soucier held on for 5th in 50.92. Morgantown's Vitaly Cuff closed well to snag the final spot at 50.95. The top 7 were under 51.
RunWV's Current Score: 15 of 18.

800 Meter Run
Woodrow Wilson's Jagger Harvey asserted himself early, coming through the first lap in 55 seconds. Jefferson's Delmar Hagedorn was in 2nd at 57 with Woodrow Wilson's Miles Kominsky in 3rd and Parkersburg's Scott Barker in 4th, also in 57. Hurricane's Alex Hughes was in 5th at 58, and Musselman's Asher Personett was in 6th at 59. On the 2nd lap, Harvey was not threatened as he went on to win by almost 3.5 seconds in 1:54.85. The battle for 2nd was much better with Kominsky and Barker battling down the stretch and having to hold off Personett. Kominsky got the 2nd spot in 1:58.37. Barker was 3rd in 1:58.68. Personett was 4th in 1:59.01. Hagedorn took the 5th spot in 1:59.64, and Hughes held the 6th spot in 1:59.71.
RunWV's Current Score: 20 of 24.

1600 Meter Run
The field went out conservatively, and we had a pack of pretty much everyone at the end of lap 1. I think it was Cabell Midland's Coy Smith in 1st, Parkersburg's Scott Barker in 2nd, Parkersburg's Will Lemaster in 3rd, South Charleston's Josh Greear in 4th. University's Philip White in 5th, and Woodrow Wilson's Miles Kominsky in 6th, all at 1:07 or 1:08. Things stayed pretty pedestrian on the 2nd lap as the pack spread out a bit, but only two fell off the back. It was still Smith in front at 2:16 with White and 2nd and Barker in 3rd also at 2:16. I think it was still Greear in 4th with Parkersburg's Ian Domenick now in 5th and Kominsky in 6th at 2:17. On lap 3, the pack continued to string out, but stay in contact, but there was a lot of movement as Woodrow Wilson's Chris Barbera had moved to the front in 3:25 with Kominsky in 2nd, Domenick in 3rd, Smith in 4th, Barker in 5th, all at the same time, and White in 6th at 3:26. This set up a kicker lap for the final lap. Barbera led throught the turn, but on the backstretch, Smith moved to the lead, and lead going into the final turn with Barbera 2nd, Kominsky 3rd, Barker 4th, White 5th, and Domenick 6th. In the final turn, Kominsky moved into the front, and Barbera followed. But down the homestretch, just like in the 3200 the night before, it was Barbera with the kick as he took the lead with about 50 to go and pulled away for the win in 4:26.22 as he again closed in just under 60 seconds. Kominsky was just over a second back in 2nd at 4:27.24. Domenick closed very well to sneak into 3rd at 4:28.83 with Barker at 4:28.91 as both got by Smith in the last 2 meters. Smith was 5th in 4:28.93. White held the 6th spot at 4:30.27.
RunWV's Current Score: 26 of 30.

3200 Meter Run
They went out reasonably aggressively on the first lap with Woodrow Wilson's Chris Barbera leading the charged at 1:07. University's Philip White matched that time in 2nd. Parkersburg's Scott Barker was in 3rd at 1:08. Wheeling Park's Ronnie Saunders was in 4th with St. Albans' Josh Endres in 5th and George Washington's Jacob Birurakis in 6th, each also at 1:08. Things slowed on the 2nd lap as the pack stayed largely together with just about everyone still in contact. Barbera remained at the front in 2:19 with White and Barker matching that time in 2nd and 3rd. Saunders was in 4th at 2:20 with Cabell Midland's Coy Smith in 5th, matching that time. I believe it was Cabell Midland's Jackson Gibson in 6th at 2:21. On the 3rd lap, the pack started stretching out a little, but many were still in contention. Barbera, White, and Barker continued to hold the top 3 spots with each passing at 3:32. Saunders continued to hold the 4th spot at 3:33. Smith was still in 5th at 3:34. Morgantown's Mikael Virji had moved into 6th also at 3:34. At the mid-way point, it remained Barbera in front at 4:44 with White and Barker still matching his time in 2nd and 3rd. Saunders wass still in 4th at 4:46, and Endres had moved back into 5th with a late lap push, also at 4:46. Virji was still in 6th at 4:47. On lap 5, things bunched back up as the pace at the front slowed a bit. Barbera still led, though at 5:58, with White and Barker still there at the same time. Endres had moved into 4th with Saunders in 5th, and they were now right the heels of the front 3 at 5:59. I believe it was Hurricane's Brian Middaugh who was now in 6th at 6:02. Lap 6 saw the pace slow even more, and Endres moved into the lead on the backstretch. As they came to the end of lap 6, it was Endres with a slight lead over Saunders with White in 3rd, Barker in 4th, and Barbera in 5th, with each passing at 7:15. Preston's Ward Ries had now moved into the 6th spot at 7:18. Business picked back up on lap 7. First, Saunders moved into the lead in the turn, and he held that through the backstretch. Barbera moved up from 5th to 3rd and settled in behind White heading into the turn. Barker was in 4th, and Endres was in 5th. In the turn, White moved into the lead, and Barbera followed, moving into 2nd heading out of the turn. At the end of 7, it was White in the lead at 8:25 with Barbera matching that time about 1 meter back. Saunders was in 3rd at 8:27 with Barker matching that time in 4th. Endres was another second back in 5th at 8:28. Ries remained in 6th. On the final lap, the real kicking began as White and Barbera quickly distanced themselves from everyone else, with White maintaining the lead. White still held the lead coming out of the turn, but it was Barbera with the better close, taking the lead with about 70 meters to go and pulling slightly away to take the win by a second. Barbera closed out the race with a 59.9 final lap to take the win in 9:26.13. White was 2nd in 9:27.14. Barker gapped the others for 3rd in 9:35.40. Saunders held the 4th spot in 9:37.29. Endres was 5th in 9:38.89. Ries was easily 6th in 9:42.89. One of my predicted placers did not finish.
RunWV's Current Score: 30 of 36.

110 Meter High Hurdles
Hedgesville's Adam Brown took the lead going over the 5th hurdle and pulled away for the win in 14.63. Ripley's Ridge Dalrymple led the first portion of the race and was 2nd in 14.76. Woodrow Wilson's Micah Hancock was 3rd in 15.21. Brooke's Ethan Secrist edged Parkersburg South's Chris Elschlager for 4th with both getting credited for a time of 15.36. Martinsburg's Chelo Teneval took the final spot at 15.77.
RunWV's Current Score: 34 of 42.

300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles
Ripley's Ridge Dalrymple slipped by Huntington's Dez Bradshaw as Bradshaw clipped and stumbled over the final hurdle. Dalrymple gets the win in 39.37 and Bradshaw settles for 2nd in 39.64. Hedgesville's Adam Brown grabs 3rd from the 1st heat in 40.00. Buckhannon-Upshur's Andrew Nesselroade was 4th in 40.24. Parkersburg South teammates Jimmy Kemp and Cameron Gill took the final two spots in 40.60 and 40.61, respectively.
RunWV's Current Score: 38 of 48.

4x100 Meter Relay
Like in the 4x200, Hedgesville's squad of Seth Cain, Sam Irwin, Timothy Campbell-Fowler, and Kyrae Ramos tore up the field with a 42.53, which is the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 3rd Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Morgantown ran a strong 2nd in 43.03. Jefferson was 3rd in 43.75. Spring Mills was 4th in 43.92, adn Cabell Midland was 5th in 43.98. Huntington scored 6th from the 1st heat in 44.03.
RunWV's Current Score: 43 of 54.

4x200 Meter Relay
The Hedgesville group of Seth Cain, Sam Irwin, Timothy Campbell-Fowler, and Kyrae Ramos dominated the action in 1:28.79, winning by almost 1.5 seconds and recording the 10th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 10th Best All-time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Spring Mills took a close battle for 2nd in 1:30.24. Jefferson was 3rd in 1:30.51. Morgantown was 4th in 1:30.59. Huntington was 5th in 1:31.22, and Ripley was 6th in 1:31.33.
RunWV's Current Score: 48 of 60.

4x400 Meter Relay
Hedgesville had the lead by the end of the 1st leg. Jefferson was a close 2nd. Cabell Midland was in 3rd, Morgantown in 4th, Spring Mills in 5th, and Musselman in 6th. Hedgesville held off a challenge from Jefferson to keep the lead through 2 legs in 1:43. Jefferson was in 2nd at 1:44. Cabell Midland was in 3rd, also at 1:44. Morgantown was in 4th at 1:45 with Spring Mills matching that in 5th, and Musselman in 6th at 1:46. On the 3rd leg, Hedgesville started pulling away, coming through in 2:35. Jefferson was in 2nd at 2:38 with Morgantown right behind with the same time. Spring Mills was in 4th and Musselman in 5th at 2:39, and Buckhannon-Upshur was in 6th at 2:40. With about 30 meters to go in that lap, as Cabell Midland, Jefferson, and Morgantown were battling for 2nd, there was some incidental contact, and Cabell Midland dropped the baton. On the final lap, Hedgesville wasn't threatened as the unit of Seth Cain, Nathan Tress, Timothy Campbell-Fowler, and quentin Porter took the win by exactly 1 second in 3:27.38. Whether or not the other teams knew exactly what had transpired in the first heat or not isn't known, but Parkersburg grabbed 2nd from the 1st heat in 3:28.38. Morgantown moved into 2nd in the heat in the last 10 meters to finish 3rd in 3:28.62. Musselman slipped past Jefferson in the last step to take 4th in 3:29.29 to Jefferson's 3:29.40. Buckhannon-Upshur took the final spot at 3:30.12.
RunWV's Current Score: 53 of 66.

4x800 Meter Relay
Things got off quickly with Woodrow Wilson's Miles Kominsky leading the first leg with a 1:58.1. Parkersburg's Scott Barker was right behind with a 1:58.6. Cabell Midland's Coy Smith cracked the 2:00 barrier as well at 1:59.8. Preston was in 4th at 2:00. Morgantown was in 5th at 2:02, and Jefferson was in 6th, also at 2:02. On the 2nd leg, things continued at a hot pace with Woodrow Wilson continuing to lead at 3:57, getting a sub-2:00 leg from Chris Barbera and Parkersburg continuing to dog them at 3:58. Cabell Midland remained in 3rd at 4:03 with Jefferson up to 4th in 4:04 and Morgantown in 5th at 4:05. Musselman had made a move into 6th place at 4:07 on a 1:59.6 leg from Asher Personett. On the 3rd leg, Woodrow Wilson continued to lead, coming through at 6:00 with Parkersburg still in 2nd at 6:03. With Jagger Harvey on the anchor for Woodrow Wilson, the win seemed pretty much assured, as did going under 8:00. The only question was by how much. Jefferson and Musselman were battling for 3rd with Jefferson crossing first, but both in 6:07. Cabell Midland was in 5th at 6:09, and Morgantown was in 6th at 6:11. On the final leg, Woodrow Wilson left no doubt as Harvey blasted a 1:55.6 leg to give the Woodrow Wilson squad of Miles Kominsky, Ryan Vaught, Chris Barbera, and Jagger Harvey the win in 7:55.98, which ties them for the 5th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 5th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Parkersburg held the 2nd spot in 8:04.77. Musselman used a 1:59.6 anchor leg from Jordan Delinski to move into 3rd. Jefferson crossed in 4th just over a second behind but were disqualified for throwing the baton. The moved Morgantown up to 4th in 8:12.16. Cabell Midland moved into the 5th spot at 8:13.76. Preston was the big beneficiary, moving up to 6th with their 8:22.16. One of my predicted placers got disqualified.
RunWV's Current Score: 58 of 72.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
The Ripley unit of Sameul Pierson, Steven Carte, Garrett Robertson, and Ridge Dalrymple took the lead toward the end of the 2nd leg and then had to reclaim it on the 3rd after a very safe exchange got Hedgesville out in front of them, and then Ridge Dalrymple sped away from everyone on the anchor leg to give them the win in 56.39. Hedgesville just edged out Parkersburg South for 2nd, 56.96 to 56.99. Woodrow Wilson was the only other team to go under 60 seconds in taking 4th in 59.00. One of my predicted placers got disqualified.
RunWV's Current Score: 63 of 78.

High Jump
Only 7 jumpers cleared the opening height of 5'10., and only 4 were able to clear 6'0. In the end it was Musselman's Dane Flanagan taking the win at 6'2 with Woodrow Wilson's Michael Beasley also clearing 6'2 in 2nd. John Marshall's Brennen Wright and Cabell Midland's Ty Sturm tied for 3rd at 6'0.
RunWV's Current Score: 69 of 84.

Pole Vault
Hedgesville's Jonathan Garver was the only vaulter to clear 14'0 in taking the win. Morgantown's Chais Shockley, University's Nathaniel Wheeler and Hedgesville's Isaiah Redman each cleared 13'6 in taking 2nd through 4th, respectively. St. Albans' Steven Eaton and Parkersburg South's Nate Santiago each cleared 13'0 in taking the final two spots. One of my predicted placers no heighted.
RunWV's Current Score: 73 of 90.

Long Jump
Woodrow Wilson's Kelshawn Grant popped off a 22'9 leap on his first attempt, and there wasn't a thing anyone could do about it as he won the event by over a foot and a half. Parkersburg's Ethan Airhart was 2nd with a 21'1.75, just ahead of Spring Mills' Adam O'Donnell's 21'1.50. Parkersburg South's Chris Elschlager was 4th with a 20'11. Martinsburg's Matthew Vanduzer and Capital's Jabron Stokes each edged past the 20'0 mark to take 5th and 6th, respectively. As the long jump is almost always the bane of my predictive existence, 3 of my predicted placers didn't even make the final.
RunWV's Current Score: 76 of 96.

Shot Put
Cabell Midland's Hunter Hicks destroyed the field by almost 9'0 with his toss of 57'3.50, which is the 7th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hedgesville grabbed the next two spots with Logan Sherwood and Gavin Smoot throwing 48'7 and 48'6.75, respectively. Spring Valley's Doug Nester was 4th with a 48'5. Parkersburg's Bennett McFarland was 5th with a 47'11.50, and Huntington's Darnell Wright was 6th with a 46'11.25. The top 7 were 46'10 or better, and no one else hit 44'6.
RunWV's Current Score: 81 of 102.

Discus
Cabell Midland's Hunter Hicks made it a sweep with a toss of 171'9, which is the 10th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 6th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hampshire's John Hicks threw 160'5 for 2nd. Parkersburg's Bennett McFarland threw 155'6 for 3rd. No one else hit 140'0.
RunWV's Current Score: 86 of 108.

The final score of 86 of 108 means that 79.6% of the people picked to place did indeed place. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
